In the presence of methyl cellulose, addition of ATP synthesis inhibitors quickly stops all protrusion movement. One protrusion still drifts; however, the chamber was not free of flow, and on average protrusions moved less than 1 mm in 10 min. Washing with inhibitor-free media restores fitful movement.
