Cover picture: Human microvascular endothelial cells plated on fibronectin were injected with vector for wild-type PAK (left) or dominant negative PAK (right). Coexpressed green fluorescent protein (used to track cell migration) is in green, actin stress fibers are stained with rhodamine phalloidin (red), and anti-vinculin stain for focal contacts is in purple. Expression of dominant negative PAK causes an increase in the number of stress fibers and in the size of focal adhesions and causes a decrease in the rate of cell migration.
