About the Cover

Cover Figure

Cover picture: A cartoon of the 1.8A crystal structure of the ENTH domain of rat epsin 1 (yellow, orange, green, or blue) aligned with armadillo repeats of -catenin (dark blue, royal, purple, or peach). This alignment gives an indication of the high degree of structural similarity between these two protein domains which share no sequence similarity, but may have some functional similarity. This type of structural similarity mapping will become an increasingly powerful tool for structural genomics and proteonomics. The four panels show the same alignment in different pastel colors, reminiscent of modernist Pop Art by the American Andy Warhol. See related article in this issue by Hyman et al., 537-546.
