Cover picture: Changes in cell phenotype on three-dimensional fibrin matrices containing fibronectin. Fibroblasts develop a typical well spread morphology with actin stress fibers (visualized using rhodamine-conjugated phalloidin) on a fibrin-fibronectin matrix. In contrast, with the addition of tenascin-C to the matrix, fibroblasts become elongated and extend long processes; the actin cytoskeleton is organized into filopodia-like projections concomitant with complete suppression of the activation of the Rho GTPase.
